Getting started

Add Caelum to your Discord server, run /setup, and enable moderation, tickets, reaction roles, or other modules.

New server checklist

  1. Add Caelum from the homepage to your Discord server. The invite requests the permissions Caelum needs for moderation, logging, tickets, reaction roles, and role management.
  2. Run /setup (or use the dashboard setup wizard). Step 1 verifies the bot role has those permissions.
  3. Run /permissions audit to confirm staff roles can use moderation commands.
  4. Turn on modules with /modules set or the dashboard Modules card (tickets, reaction roles, automod, logging, and more).
  5. Configure each module (logging channel, welcome message, automod, and so on).

Bot role permissions

The invite link requests: View Channels, Send Messages, Embed Links, Read Message History, Manage Messages, Manage Channels, Manage Server, Manage Roles, View Audit Log, Kick Members, Ban Members, Timeout Members, Add Reactions, Attach Files, and Send Polls. Granting Administrator to the bot role also passes /setup step 1.

If moderation or tickets fail after invite, open Server Settings → Roles, compare the bot role to the list above, and run /permissions audit for warnings.

Dashboard vs Discord

Most settings can be changed in the dashboard or with slash commands. A few actions still run only in Discord (for example posting a giveaway or running /ticket post).
